My son, Christopher Cook (48), died on April 14, 2014 after battling cancer heroically for two years. He was a former college athlete, an accomplished corporate vice-president, a loving husband and father. His story was one of hope aligned with a special brand of courage and determination.
This past year, with funds raised by Team SHU we established the CT Challenge-Christopher Cook Scholarship in honor of the life-affirming spirit that is Christopher’s legacy. Last spring, we awarded inaugural scholarships to four full-time SHU students who are cancer survivors. If you want to be inspired, meet these four young women. We certainly were. They embody perseverance and living life to the fullest.
Team SHU is a partnership of riders and volunteers from throughout the Sacred Heart community—coaches, administrators, staff, faculty, students and alums alike—aimed at building the Scholarship to help more student cancer survivors like these attending Sacred Heart University. That is why ride. We ride also to honor the hope, guts and determination it takes to get to the other side of cancer for all who battle it. We ride to celebrate survivorship and the insistence to thrive.
We hope you will consider supporting Team SHU by riding with us or by making a secure online donation through the "Donate Now" button at the top right of this page. (You may also print out a donor form and send it in with a check. Click on “Donate” on the home page of the website to find the form.) Thank you so much. Together, we're changing lives.
